Backpack Safety tips for parents

A new school year is approaching and it is important to prioritize your child’s health to ensure a healthy education experience. An overlooked health issue for school-aged children is backpack safety. Young children are suffering from back pain much earlier than previous generations, and the use of overweight backpacks is a contributing factor, according to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).

The doctors at Flint Hills Family Chiropractic, LLC often see many children who carry their backpacks incorrectly, putting them at a higher risk of developing a [functional] scoliosis. Children should be checked yearly for scoliosis and periods of rapid growth, like puberty, are especially important to monitor.
